Dobong District to Provide 120 Million Won in Compensation to Commission-Based Sports Instructors

Improved Compensation for Instructors
Higher Quality of Education Anticipated

Dobong District in Seoul (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced on July 16 that it will provide a total of 120 million won in compensation to 99 commission-based sports instructors affiliated with the Dobong District Facilities Management Corporation in the second half of this year.

The main purpose of this support is to compensate sports instructors for income losses resulting from expanded discounts for families with multiple children, and to cover credit card transaction fees that instructors have previously borne when members pay by card. The related budget was finalized as a supplementary budget by the Dobong District Council on June 27.

Commission-based instructors are classified as business income earners who receive a certain percentage of sports class fees as income, and they have shared losses when facility revenues decrease or payment processing fees occur. With this measure, the district expects not only to improve instructor compensation but also to enhance resident satisfaction by improving the quality of class services.

To implement this support, the district held three meetings with commission-based instructors and reflected on-site feedback in the supplementary budget plan. Dobong District stated that it plans to continue supporting instructors by including related funding in next year’s main budget as well.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong District, said, “We believe this support will create a virtuous cycle that raises the quality of classes provided to residents and delivers better services. We will continue to expand support for commission-based instructors to further improve service quality and facility user satisfaction.”
