Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has appointed Choi Yoonkyum, former coach of Cheongju FC, as the inaugural head coach of the citizens' professional football club "Yongin FC" (tentative name), which is being established with the goal of participating in K League 2 next year.

Born in 1962, Coach Choi began his playing career with Yukong Elephants (now Jeju United) and also played for the national team. After retiring as a player, he built his coaching career by managing a variety of teams, including Bucheon SK, Daejeon Citizen, Hoang Anh Gia Lai in Vietnam, Gangwon FC, Busan IPark, Jeju United FC, and Cheongju FC.
Coach Choi stated, "I will recruit talented players and build an excellent staff to prepare well so that we can become a team that meets the expectations of Yongin football fans," adding, "Based on strong performances, I will create a team loved by the citizens."
Sangil Lee, mayor of Yongin, requested, "I hope you will demonstrate strong leadership so that Yongin's first professional football club can achieve excellent results in next year's K League 2 and earn the love of many citizens."
