A parent who illegally entered a school and attempted to steal exam papers, along with a school official who assisted in the act, have been arrested.

According to Yonhap News, on July 15, Park Minkyu, the judge in charge of warrants at the Andong Branch of the Daegu District Court, issued arrest warrants for parent A (in their 40s) and school official B (in their 30s) following a pretrial detention hearing held that afternoon.

They are accused of breaking into the school with temporary teacher C (in their 30s, already under arrest) and attempting to steal exam papers, as well as conspiring to commit these acts. According to police and other sources, A is facing charges including unlawful entry into a building and obstruction of business, while B is charged with theft and unlawful entry into a residence.

Police have also reportedly confirmed evidence suggesting that money was exchanged between parent A and temporary teacher C.

Previously, A appeared at the pretrial detention hearing without making any statement, while B said, "I'm sorry. I will cooperate sincerely with the investigation."

On July 4 at approximately 1:20 a.m., A, together with C, who had worked as a temporary teacher at a high school in Andong until February of last year, broke into the high school attended by A's daughter and attempted to steal the final exam papers. During this incident, B allegedly assisted by tolerating the intrusion and otherwise aiding the crime.

Police investigations also confirmed that C had been providing private tutoring to E, the daughter of parent A and a student at D High School, since her middle school years. Under current law, teachers, including temporary teachers, are prohibited from offering private tutoring.

According to police, E has been booked without detention on charges of obstruction of business. E is accused of receiving the stolen exam papers from her parent A and C and then taking the exam. Meanwhile, the school has decided to assign E a score of zero for the exam and to expel her, following an internal decision made that day.
