Promotion of Water Culture Center, Festival Plaza, and RE100 Town
Four Key Strategies: Tourism Hubs, Lifestyle Tourism, Water-Friendly City, and Sustainability
Jangseong County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Han-jong) has established a plan to build tourism infrastructure centered around the Hwangryonggang River and has begun setting long-term development directions.
According to the county on July 15, a "Final Service Report Meeting on the Establishment of the Basic Plan for Hwangryonggang Tourism Infrastructure" was recently held at the county office situation room, where the county announced its key concept in line with the "Growing Jangseong" city brand. The core concept is the "Hwangryonggang Growth Tour Project." The project consists of four components: establishing tourism hubs, promoting lifestyle tourism, creating a water-friendly city, and ensuring sustainability.

The "establishing tourism hubs" component includes the construction of the Hwangryonggang Water Culture Center, the creation of the "Hwangryong Festival Plaza" connecting the festival grounds and the downtown area, and the development of the "Hwangryong Venezia Town," which is planned as an accommodation and commercial complex. For Hwangmir Land, the development of "Hwangmir Family Land," featuring family-oriented spaces such as a net park and a mini pool, was proposed. Additionally, the plan includes the "Seongjang Jangseong Star Light Nuri" observatory with nighttime scenery, the Ansan Dulle-gil media facade, and the operation of a cruise ship on Jangseong Lake.
The "promoting lifestyle tourism" component includes the Jangseong Lake Smart Media Stairs, an observation tower elevator, and nighttime hologram installations. The operation of the "Hwangryong Train" along the Hwangryonggang flower path and a tour bus between Jangseong Lake and Pilam Seowon was also proposed.
The "creating a water-friendly city" component consists of the establishment of the energy self-sufficient "Hwangryong RE100 Town," the development of the "Hwangryong Workshop Park" for companies and club members, and the restoration of aquatic plant habitats. The "ensuring sustainability" component includes establishing a waterfront landscape urban plan and preparing landscape creation guidelines based on public-private cooperation.
Governor Kim Han-jong stated, "Hwangryonggang is a representative attraction visited by more than one million people annually," and added, "Starting with the establishment of this basic plan, we will maximize the potential of Hwangryonggang and take a leap toward becoming a city that attracts 10 million tourists."
