Reinforcing Safety with Repairs and Replacement of Observation Deck Fences

Gwangjin District in Seoul (Mayor Kim Kyungho) announced on July 15 that it has recently completed the maintenance project for the Seoul Dulle-gil trail around the Achasan area, transforming it into a safer and more pleasant walking path.

The Seoul Dulle-gil is a walking trail with a total length of approximately 157 kilometers that connects the outskirts of Seoul. In Gwangjin District, the fifth section of the trail, which stretches from the Achasan helipad to Gwangnaru Station and is known for its beautiful views of the Han River, is a popular destination for many Seoul residents.
Concerns had been raised about inconvenience and potential accidents due to aging facilities such as the deck stairs and safety fences near Haemaji Park in this section. In response, the district began maintenance work on key high-traffic areas in May.
The old deck stairs below Haemaji Square were repaired and reinforced, and fluorescent paint was applied to improve nighttime visibility. In some sections, the deck was extended to better accommodate pedestrian traffic and improve movement flow.
At two observation decks near the summit of Achasan, old and damaged fences were replaced to allow visitors to enjoy the scenery more safely. Two new "Attractive Gardens" were also created in front of the Achasan rest area and near the badminton court. Each garden has been transformed into a refreshing space for hikers to take a break, featuring a variety of flowering plants and shrubs.
Mayor Kim Kyungho stated, "The Achasan section of the Seoul Dulle-gil is a precious space where residents can connect with nature and relax within the city," and added, "We will continue to maintain and improve the quality of the trail so that everyone can walk here with peace of mind."
