Expanding Research Collaboration in Core Future Technologies
The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST, President Osangrok) and Ewha Womans University (President Lee Hyangsook) announced on July 15 that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for research collaboration and the cultivation of science and technology talent.
The agreement, signed on July 14 in the main conference room of Ewha Womans University’s main building, was established as part of the "Breaking Down Barriers between Universities and Government-Funded Research Institutes" initiative. It aims to strengthen cooperation between universities and government-funded research institutes in core future technology fields and to foster professionals who will contribute to the advancement of national science and technology.
President Lee previously served as the first female president of the Korean Mathematical Society. As the first president of Ewha Womans University with a background in science and engineering, she has consistently expressed a strong commitment to nurturing female scientific talent in the era of AI.
President Lee stated, "Through this agreement, I hope that broad collaboration?ranging from next-generation semiconductors and AI·robotics to climate·environment and natural products·new drug development?will serve as an opportunity to foster talented female professionals who will lead the core technologies required by future society."
Prior to the signing ceremony, directors from KIST’s mission-oriented research institutes and Ewha Womans University researchers exchanged ideas on their respective areas of interest.
KIST President Osangrok commented, "By combining the strengths of KIST and Ewha Womans University, we will continue our collaboration to produce innovative research outcomes that address the nation’s and society’s most pressing challenges."
