Chonnam National University Hospital announced on July 15 that it held a "Super-Aged Research Joint Seminar" with the National Institute of Health and Samsung Seoul Hospital.
The seminar was held on the afternoon of July 7 in the main conference room of the Biomedical Research Support Center. It was hosted by the Biomedical Research Institute of Chonnam National University Hospital, the Institute of Aging Science at Chonnam National University, and the Chonnam National University Hospital Korean Centenarian Research Team. The event was organized to share trends in cohort studies targeting super-aged populations both in Korea and abroad, and to discuss future cooperation and research methodologies.
The seminar began with an opening address by Park Sangcheol, Distinguished Professor at Chonnam National University. Park Hyunyoung, Director of the National Institute of Health, and Yoon Kyungcheol, Director of the Institute of Aging Science at Chonnam National University (and Deputy Director of Medical Affairs), delivered congratulatory remarks emphasizing the importance of super-aged research and the necessity of collaboration. Lim Jungyeon, Head of Division at the National Institute of Health, gave a presentation on "The Direction of Aging Research at the National Institute of Health," highlighting the significance of aging research. Park Kwangseong, Head of the Korean Centenarian Research Team at Chonnam National University Hospital, delivered a presentation on "Trends in the International Centenarian Consortium," underscoring the need for international cooperation.
Jo Juhee, Professor at Samsung Seoul Hospital, presented on "Recent Trends in Domestic and International Super-Aged Cohort Studies," introducing various cohort designs and data cases from different countries. Han Jaeyoung, Professor at Chonnam National University Hospital, introduced the "Centenarian Cohort Research Team," outlining the research content and results, and presented efforts and vision for expanding the foundation of domestic research.
Park Kwangseong, Head of the Korean Centenarian Research Team, stated, "This seminar was a meaningful occasion to address various healthcare challenges arising from the transition to a super-aged society and to strengthen national cooperation in research based on health data for the elderly."
