Governor Lee Cheolwoo of Gyeongbuk: "Gyeongju APEC, a Historic Turning Point to Promote Gyeongbuk, Heir to a Thousand Years of Silla, to the World"

Thorough Preparation Ordered at Executive Meeting
"Disaster Response to Heatwaves and Heavy Rain Must Be Strengthened"

On July 15, Governor Lee Cheolwoo of Gyeongbuk instructed at the executive meeting that all efforts must be made to strengthen disaster response to heatwaves and heavy rain, and to use the 2025 Gyeongju APEC as an opportunity to promote Gyeongbuk to Korea and the world.


Governor Lee stated, "The top priority is to ensure safety by strengthening disaster response to heatwaves and heavy rain. In the event of unpredictable weather anomalies, it is crucial to carry out duties according to the manual," and added, "Protecting the lives and property of the people comes first, and we must make sure not to overlook even the smallest details."

Governor Lee also ordered, "To this end, check thoroughly whether disaster response manuals, subdivided by region and situation, are being strictly followed. Do not neglect even minor procedures, and establish an organic cooperation system with relevant agencies. Through close cooperation with cities and counties, ensure meticulous administration by focusing on preemptive evacuation of residents in areas at risk of casualties, advance monitoring of dangerous areas, and intensive inspection of hazardous facilities, so that we are fully prepared for disaster response."


Governor Lee continued, "We must prepare thoroughly for the 2025 Gyeongju APEC, so that our province achieves a great accomplishment that will be remembered in history, and creates an opportunity for a post-APEC legacy. The 2025 Gyeongju APEC Summit must become a historic turning point that elevates Korea's status and introduces Gyeongbuk, which inherits the brilliant legacy of a thousand years of Silla, to the world."


Governor Lee also emphasized, "All departments of the provincial government must make every effort to overcome Gyeongbuk's inherent limitations, such as a lack of talent and logistics infrastructure, through thorough preparation, and to achieve tangible results so that we can carry on the achievements of our ancestors and leap forward as a global city. Let us reflect on what legacy we will leave through this Gyeongju APEC, and let every public official do their utmost to leave the greatest mark."
