Jensen Huang: "U.S. Approves H20 Chip Exports to China...Very Good News"

"New Graphics Card 'RTX Pro' Set for Release"

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, announced on July 15 that the U.S. government has approved the export of the company's artificial intelligence (AI) chip H20 to China.

According to China Central Television (CCTV) on July 15, CEO Huang stated in an interview, "The U.S. government has approved the export license, and we are now able to begin shipments."

CEO Huang said, "We will begin selling the H20 chip in the Chinese market," adding, "I am very much looking forward to the H20 being shipped quickly. I am extremely pleased, and this is very, very good news."

He continued, "The second piece of news is that we plan to launch a new graphics card called 'RTX Pro.' This graphics card is a very important product designed specifically for computer graphics, digital twins, and AI." According to foreign media reports, the RTX Pro is a chip designed exclusively for China in compliance with U.S. export regulations.

Nvidia also announced on its blog the same day, "The U.S. government has promised that Nvidia will be granted an export license, and Nvidia expects to begin shipments soon." The company also shared the news about the launch of the RTX Pro.

Since the Biden administration, the United States has regulated exports of advanced U.S.-made semiconductors to China, citing national security concerns. In response to these regulatory measures, Nvidia released the H20 chip with reduced performance for export to China. However, in April, the Trump administration further tightened regulations, making even these exports impossible. CEO Huang has repeatedly criticized these U.S. government measures and has called for the resumption of exports.

CEO Huang visited Beijing, China, to attend the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo, which will be held on July 16. He is expected to attend the opening ceremony of the expo and hold a briefing for the media. On this day, he met with Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and it is reported that he met with Lei Jun, CEO of Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, the previous day.
