On July 15, the KOSPI started the day lower, opening around the 3,190 level, while the KOSDAQ began trading with slight gains.
As of 9:04 a.m. on this day, the KOSPI was at 3,193.12, down 0.28% from the previous trading day. The index opened at 3,194.82, which was 0.23% lower than the previous close, and continued to decline. Foreign investors and institutions were net sellers, offloading 20.3 billion won and 56.2 billion won respectively, while individual investors were net buyers, purchasing 71.7 billion won.
By sector, insurance (-2.49%), securities (-1.22%), finance (-1.10%), electrical and electronics (-0.57%), medical and precision instruments (-0.48%), paper and wood (-0.39%), textiles and apparel (-0.34%), non-metallic minerals (-0.22%), and distribution (-0.30%) were all declining. On the other hand, electricity and gas (2.81%), machinery and equipment (2.50%), construction (2.19%), entertainment and culture (0.43%), and metals (0.20%) were on the rise.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Electronics (-0.16%), SK hynix (-2.50%), KB Financial Group (-1.86%), Hyundai Motor (-1.15%), and Kia (-1.84%) were showing weakness. In contrast, Samsung Biologics (0.29%), LG Energy Solution (0.32%), and Doosan Enerbility (4.49%) were gaining.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was at 800.74, up 0.17% from the previous trading day. The index started at 800.24, up 0.11% from the previous session, and maintained its upward trend. Individual investors were leading the gains by purchasing 65.0 billion won, while foreign investors and institutions sold 25.4 billion won and 31.9 billion won respectively.
A differentiated trend was observed by sector. Pharmaceuticals (1.06%), metals (0.70%), transportation equipment and parts (0.44%), manufacturing (0.33%), medical and precision instruments (0.32%), and electrical and electronics (0.24%) were rising. In contrast, telecommunications (-1.90%), finance (-0.89%), textiles and apparel (-0.66%), distribution (-0.51%), paper and wood (-0.41%), chemicals (-0.29%), and food, beverage and tobacco (-0.26%) were declining.
Among the top KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization, Alteogen (0.45%), PharmaResearch (0.53%), Rainbow Robotics (0.37%), LIG ChemBio (0.45%), Peptron (0.62%), Hugel (1.30%), and LinoTech (0.98%) were on the rise. Meanwhile, EcoPro BM (-0.29%), HLB (-0.58%), and EcoPro (-1.15%) were declining.
