Opening of Permanent Sales Center in Shenyang, China
Significance as a Key Export Hub in Northeast Asia
Annual Export Target Set at $300,000
Jeollanam-do announced that it held an opening ceremony for the "Jeonnam Agricultural and Marine Products Permanent Sales Center" at Hanbaek Mart in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China, on July 11.
About 20 people attended the event, including the head of Jeollanam-do's China office, officials from the Consulate General in Shenyang, the head of KOTRA Shenyang Trade Center, the president of the Shenyang Honam Association, and representatives from World-OKTA China branch.
The permanent sales center was established in the form of a "shop-in-shop" inside Hanbaek Mart, located in the heart of Shenyang's Korean Town. Jeollanam-do plans to use this location to conduct product planning, logistics, and marketing tailored to local culture and consumer preferences.
The sales center will offer a regular selection of over 50 types of agricultural and marine processed products, health foods, and meal kits (convenient cooking sets) produced by 20 companies from Jeollanam-do. The annual export target is $300,000 (approximately 400 million KRW), and premium products that align with organic, health, and wellness trends will be showcased.
The store will display photographs capturing the traditions and nature of Jeollanam-do and provide information on recommended products. In addition, various experiential events such as tasting sessions, discount coupon offerings, and cooking demonstrations will be held to attract regular customers.
Shenyang is a region where the Korean Wave is particularly strong, with many Korean food specialty stores already established. Jeollanam-do plans to expand sales not only through offline stores but also by linking to Chinese online platforms such as Taobao and OKTAmall.
Shin Hyungon, Director of International Cooperation for Jeollanam-do, stated, "The opening of this permanent sales center is a strategic project to establish a stable supply chain for Jeonnam agricultural and marine products in the Chinese market," adding, "We will continue to support localization and strengthen logistics infrastructure to help companies pioneer overseas markets."
Jeollanam-do currently operates 31 overseas permanent sales centers in 13 countries including the United States, and achieved an export performance of $10.83 million (approximately 1.5 billion KRW) last year. This year, the province plans to open new sales centers in four locations, including China, Kazakhstan, and Laos.
