Fostering Field-Strong Leaders Through Hands-On Training
at Nari Corporation Fire Training Center to Enhance Practical Skills
Changwon Fire Headquarters in Gyeongnam recently conducted field-oriented fire facility training for 34 newly appointed firefighters in 2025, in collaboration with the Nari Corporation Fire Training Center located in Gimhae.
The Nari Corporation Fire Training Center, operated by Nari Corporation, is known as the only fire practice and hands-on training facility of its kind in the country.
Since 2021, Changwon Fire Headquarters has continuously provided training to strengthen the practical skills and effective field response capabilities of both new and incumbent firefighters. Nearly 400 firefighters have completed this training so far.
This training program was designed as a hands-on experience, allowing participants to directly operate and understand the working principles of essential fire facilities such as automatic fire detection systems, sprinkler systems, and fire pumps, which are critical for real-world fire response.
In particular, the curriculum focused on practical topics essential in the field, such as the causes and prevention of false fire alarms and the restoration of water flow detection devices, providing trainees with an opportunity to further enhance their practical skills.
Changwon Fire Headquarters is continuously working to strengthen the expertise and real-world response capabilities of its firefighters in order to proactively respond to rapidly changing architectural environments and the risks of large-scale fires. In particular, the headquarters is institutionalizing practical training for new firefighters from the outset to ensure they acquire a high level of expertise and field response ability. It also provides opportunities for hands-on practice with the latest equipment and in realistic environments through partnerships with private professional organizations.
One new firefighter who participated in this training said, "This training went beyond simply delivering theory and focused on developing practical field response skills," adding, "We will continue to expand practical training programs to become a strong firefighting organization responsible for the safety of citizens."
Woo Heeseok, CEO of Nari Corporation, stated, "It is an important experience for firefighters to handle various equipment themselves in a real-world environment, as it improves the quality of field response," and added, "We will continue to actively cooperate to nurture firefighters who are strong in the field."
Meanwhile, this training is expected to serve as a positive model case for future fire service policies and talent development strategies.
