Sejong Northern Police Station Launches 'Safe and Happy Community Project'

The Northern Police Station of the Sejong Police Agency (Chief Noh Seho) held a pledge event to establish basic order on July 14 at the Sejong Culture Center in Jochiwon-eup, together with related organizations and partner groups.

The purpose of the event was to improve the widespread practice of neglecting basic order in everyday life, to restore trust within the local community, and to promote a safe life for citizens.

More than 200 people participated in the event, including representatives from the Northern Police Station, Sejong City’s town and township leaders, the Police Development Council, the Security Advisory Council, the Voluntary Crime Prevention Unit, the Public Safety Council, the Model Drivers’ Association, the Green Mothers’ Association, and Jochiwon Middle School, as well as related organizations and partner groups.

After the pledge event, a campaign was conducted in the Jochiwon Traditional Market area to actively inform citizens about the importance of complying with basic order, focusing on preventive publicity and guidance activities.

In particular, starting in September and continuing through the end of the year, full-scale enforcement activities are planned. In the area of traffic order, the focus will be on violations such as illegal U-turns, bus-only lane violations, blocking intersections, cutting in line, and non-emergency ambulance law violations. In the area of public order, enforcement will target offenses such as drunken disturbances and illegal dumping of garbage and advertisements.

In the area of economic order affecting ordinary citizens, the focus will be on issues that have been occurring frequently in recent times, such as no-shows, scalping, eating without paying, and violence while intoxicated.

Noh Seho, chief of the Northern Police Station, stated, "We will strive to ensure that basic order, which can be easily overlooked in daily life, is reconsidered, remembered, and firmly established," and added, "I hope everyone will actively participate in establishing basic order to create a safe and happy local community."
