Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province launched a free shuttle bus service for workers in industrial complexes starting on the 14th.
The free shuttle bus service started by Pyeongtaek City on the 14th to facilitate commuting for workers in industrial complexes. It connects two industrial complexes, Eoyeonhansan and Hyeongok, with Jije Station and Seojeongri Station. Provided by Pyeongtaek City
The free shuttle bus service covers two areas: Eoyeonhansan Industrial Complex in Eohyeon-ri, Cheongbuk-eup, and Hyeongok Industrial Complex in Hyeongok-ri. The city explained that the service aims to alleviate the inconvenience faced by workers in these industrial complexes, which are located in outlying areas with limited access to public transportation, and to help address labor shortages for businesses.
The shuttle buses connect major transportation hubs, such as Jije Station and Seojeongri Station, with the industrial complexes. The morning buses (departing from Jije Station) operate twice at 7:20 a.m. and 7:40 a.m., while the evening buses (departing from the industrial complexes) run twice at 5:40 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The shuttle service is operated in cooperation between Pyeongtaek City and the Pyeongtaek Industrial Complex Management Corporation. Workers employed at companies within the industrial complexes can apply in advance for priority seating, and any remaining seats are available free of charge to anyone. Detailed routes and schedules can be found on the websites of Pyeongtaek City Hall and the Pyeongtaek Industrial Complex Management Corporation.
Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jangsun said, "We hope this shuttle bus service will alleviate inconvenience for workers and benefit both businesses and the local community," adding, "We will continue to implement various policies to support worker welfare and assist businesses."
Previously, the city secured funding for the shuttle bus service by being selected for Gyeonggi Province's 'Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project,' and finalized the routes after conducting a demand survey. The city plans to expand routes and improve services based on actual usage and additional demand surveys.
