According to the district office, this agreement was established to build a public-private cooperation system that enables the local community to jointly support children and youth experiencing difficulties due to family caregiving responsibilities. The aim is to address and eliminate care blind spots.
The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo District, Byun Jeonggeun, Head of the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of ChildFund Korea, as well as the directors of Kumho, Siyeong, and Ssangchon Comprehensive Social Welfare Centers.
Under the agreement, participating organizations will cooperate in various areas, including: ▲ customized cash support for family care children and youth ▲ provision of individualized services through integrated care coordinators ▲ formation of a public-private network centered on Kumho, Siyeong, and Ssangchon Comprehensive Social Welfare Centers ▲ operation of psychological and emotional support programs ▲ conducting research and studies for policy development.
Through the 'Gwangju On(ON) Dolbom' project, family care children can receive tailored care services, including up to 1 million won in cash support per person. This project will be piloted until December this year, and a year-end performance sharing meeting will discuss policy proposals as well as ways to expand the initiative to other regions.
Byun Jeonggeun stated, "We will create tangible changes in the lives of children through community cooperation," adding, "I hope this agreement will become a model for nationwide expansion."
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo District, said, "This agreement marks the starting point for social care for children and the beginning of a new care paradigm where the community raises children together." He added, "We will do our best to create a welfare environment where children can grow up healthy and safe."
