Lee Hyunjae, mayor of Hanam, made this statement while giving a special lecture to about 200 licensed real estate agents in the district at the annex auditorium of Hanam City Hall on the 14th.
On this day, Mayor Lee delivered a lecture under the theme "Hanam: The Economic City at the Core of Eastern Metropolitan Area," introducing the city's key development projects, which are being actively pursued. These included K-Star World, the Camp Colbern urban development project, and the creation of self-sufficient land in Gyosan New Town. He also shared Hanam's future vision.
The K-Star World development project is a massive initiative to build a K-pop exclusive performance venue (K-Arena), a film shooting studio, and more on a 1.7 million square meter site in the Misa Island (Misa-seom) area. It was presented as a core strategy to transform Hanam into a "global cultural tourism city centered on K-culture."
Mayor Lee explained, "The K-Star World project goes beyond simple development. It is the centerpiece of a future-oriented strategy to make Hanam a global K-culture hub city and a self-sustaining city."
He also provided an overview of current real estate market trends.
Mayor Lee Hyunjae emphasized, "According to the Korea Real Estate Board's May 2025 data, the comprehensive housing sales price index stands at 99.96 nationwide, 100.17 in the Seoul metropolitan area, and 100.36 in Hanam, exceeding both the national and metropolitan averages. Compared to June 2024, Hanam has seen an increase of 3.57 points, demonstrating a stable market trend."
Regarding the development of Gyosan New Town, he said, "As announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, we will create a 'city that grows together' by comprehensively equipping it with transportation, jobs, housing, and childcare environments. It will be a city where commuting to downtown Seoul is possible within 30 minutes, a city that creates jobs, a city ideal for raising children, and a city built in cooperation with the local community."
He especially highlighted that the entire 570,000 square meter self-sufficient land in Gyosan will begin full-scale efforts this year to attract companies in advanced industries such as software and AI, aiming to foster Hanam as a hub city leading future industries.
He also introduced plans to improve the residential environment in the original downtown area.
Mayor Lee Hyunjae added, "Including the redevelopment project for the area around 446-18 Sinjang-dong, which was officially announced on July 1, I explained the status of seven regional housing cooperative projects currently underway in the Deokpung-dong area. We will do our utmost to expedite administrative procedures, conduct regular inspections and disclose information, and actively work to resolve inconveniences for residents to ensure smooth progress of these projects."
Mayor Lee expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank all the licensed real estate agents who communicate with citizens and demonstrate professionalism at the forefront of the real estate market. I hope this special lecture has been a meaningful opportunity for us to think about and share ideas for Hanam's development."
