Open Free of Charge for 30 Days Until August 17
On July 14, Gwangju City announced that the "Gwangju Citizen's Forest Water Playground," located in Oryong-dong, Buk-gu, will be open free of charge for 30 days, from July 19 to August 17.
The Citizen's Forest Water Playground is an urban summer retreat designed for children of elementary school age and younger. It operates from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The facility is closed every Monday for inspections and cleaning. The schedule may change depending on weather conditions.
The city will also operate "Water Play Experience Days for Children with Disabilities" on July 21 and August 4. On these two days, access for non-disabled visitors will be restricted to provide a safer and more relaxed environment for children with disabilities and their families.
To ensure children's safety, the city will have safety personnel who have completed first aid training on duty at all times. In addition, the water will be replaced with tap water daily, and water quality tests will be conducted every 15 days, as part of thorough hygiene management.
The water playground covers an area of 1,000 square meters, with an average water depth of 20 centimeters. It features a variety of attractions, including large play equipment shaped like dolphins and submarines, as well as a 125-meter-long stream-type water play facility, making it an ideal urban summer destination for families.
Kim Jonghyun, head of the Urban Park Management Office, said, "With a shorter rainy season and continued heat waves compared to last year, I hope children can run and play freely in the forest water playground and create joyful memories with their families."
