Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics will both participate in 'IAA Mobility 2025' to be held in Germany in September, marking a full-scale push into the European automotive electronics market. Following their joint participation in 2023, the two companies will set up booths together for the second time and present their visions for the automotive electronics business.
According to the electronics industry on July 14, Samsung Electronics will be represented by its Device Solutions (DS) division, Samsung SDI, and Samsung Display at the event. Samsung plans to leverage key automotive components such as automotive semiconductors, OLEDs, and batteries to expand its connections with the European finished vehicle industry.
The DS division will focus on automotive semiconductors, while the display division aims to expand its customer and product portfolio centered on automotive organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).
According to UBI Research, Samsung Display shipped 540,000 medium-to-large OLED panels in the first quarter of this year, an increase of more than five times compared to the previous year. Samsung SDI is also expected to unveil its strategy for expanding its battery business in Europe, alongside its investment in a factory in Hungary.
On the opening day, September 9, LG Electronics will hold a conference themed 'Redefining In-Vehicle Experience: Why the Content Ecosystem Matters.' Executive Vice President Eun Seokhyun of the VS Business Division and other executives will present strategies for in-vehicle content in the era of software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
LG offers integrated solutions that combine hardware and software, including in-vehicle infotainment, telematics, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and the SDV solution 'LG AlphaWare.'
In addition, LG is seeking to transform vehicles into living spaces on wheels by applying its proprietary webOS-based content platform (ACP) to vehicles.
An LG Electronics representative stated, "We will strengthen our strategy to lead the content ecosystem and evolve vehicles from mere means of transportation into content hubs."
