Dongmyeong University (President Sangcheon Lee) announced on July 14 that it ranked 168th overall in the '2025 WURI (World University Rankings for Innovation)', a global innovation university evaluation.
This represents an improvement of more than 500 places compared to last year. Dongmyeong University achieved a remarkable result, moving up from 699th place in 2024 to its current ranking.
The WURI ranking, now in its sixth year, is an assessment led by universities from the former Hanseatic League region in Europe. Instead of focusing on the number of published papers or citation indices, it evaluates the innovation performance of 1,253 universities worldwide based on 16 indicators, including student support, industry collaboration, university operational efficiency, and leadership. This year, a total of 4,866 achievements were submitted, and the final rankings reflected evaluations directly submitted by the presidents of the participating universities.
In addition to its overall ranking of 168th, Dongmyeong University also stood out in key categories, placing 4th in student support, 8th in leadership, and 12th in university operational efficiency. Its leadership ranking made a significant jump from 34th last year to 8th this year.
Among domestic universities, 15 institutions ranked within the top 200, including Incheon National University (9th), Seoul National University (19th), and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (22nd). Based on its innovative university management and leadership, Dongmyeong University has also newly entered the 2026 QS World University Rankings among Korean universities.
The university commented, "This result demonstrates that our student-centered teaching innovation has been recognized for its competitiveness on the global stage."
