According to Yonhap News, at around 10:20 a.m. on July 14, four members of a family?a couple in their 40s, identified as Mr. and Mrs. A, and their two teenage children?were found dead in a car parked in the underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Dongtan New Town, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
The police received a 112 emergency call at around 9:30 a.m. from an official at the elementary school attended by one of Mr. A's children, reporting that the child had not come to school and that the parents could not be reached. Upon visiting the family's home to investigate, the police discovered Mr. A and the other three family members deceased in the vehicle in the underground parking lot. The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
A police official told Yonhap News, "The specific motive and other details related to the case have not yet been confirmed," adding, "We plan to request autopsies from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death of Mr. A and the others."
