Achievements in Eco-Friendly Technical Support in the First Half of 2025
Including Odor Reduction Assistance
The Busan Green Environment Support Center at the National Pukyong University is drawing attention for its achievements in driving green transformation at industrial sites in Busan through on-site, customized technical support.
In the first half of 2025, the Busan Green Environment Support Center actively supported local companies in Busan in reducing environmental pollutants and transitioning to eco-friendly processes through the "Customized On-site Consulting Project" and the "IoT Measurement Device Installation Support Project for Small-scale Businesses."
The "Customized On-site Consulting Project" provides tailored on-site consulting to companies based in Busan, enabling them to efficiently reduce environmental pollutants and stably operate pollution prevention facilities.
The core of the project includes: providing management strategies for air and water pollutants generated during processes; offering guidance on optimal operating conditions and maintenance for emission and prevention facilities; and reviewing permit documents. The focus is on technical support aimed at preventing pollution in advance.
As of the first half of this year, a total of eight technical support cases were completed for five companies. Of these, six cases focused on supporting odor reduction. The center is promoting tangible environmental improvement effects through company-specific customized solutions.
In addition, through the "IoT Measurement Device Installation Support Project for Small-scale Businesses," the center provided technical support throughout all stages?from document review and on-site inspection to completion assessment?by covering 90% of the IoT measurement device installation costs for Class 4 and 5 air emission businesses. As of the first half of this year, a total of 424 technical support cases were completed for 412 businesses.
Lee Taeyoon, Director of the Busan Green Environment Support Center, said, "We will contribute to creating a sustainable industrial environment through effective, on-site technical support."
The Busan Green Environment Support Center is designated by the Ministry of Environment and operated by Pukyong University as the lead institution, forming a consortium of industry, academia, government, civil society, and research organizations. In cooperation with Busan City and local district governments, the center is establishing an IoT-based air pollution monitoring system and striving to strengthen the environmental management capabilities of small-scale businesses.
