On-Site Refund Events Worth 10 Billion Won at Traditional Markets
The government is launching a discount event offering up to 40% off domestically produced agricultural and livestock products to ease the burden on household grocery bills during the peak summer consumption season.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on July 14 that it will implement the "Summer Vacation Season Agricultural and Livestock Product Discount Support" program for three weeks from July 17 to August 6.

This program will be held at approximately 12,000 online and offline retailers that handle domestic agricultural and livestock products. The discounts will focus on seasonal agricultural products that are in high demand during this period. In particular, for livestock products, the government will designate different cuts from those featured in the July Hanwoo and pork producer association events to avoid overlap, allowing consumers to enjoy discounts on a wider variety of items.
Retailers participating in this government discount event are required to offer their own additional discounts on top of the government discount. As a result, consumers can receive up to 40% off when purchasing domestic agricultural and livestock products during the event period. To ensure that as many consumers as possible benefit, a weekly limit of 20,000 won per person has been set. For offline purchases, the discount will be automatically applied at checkout, while for online purchases, consumers can apply a discount coupon at the payment stage to receive the benefit.
In traditional markets, the on-site refund event, which was previously held only during holidays, will be expanded to 130 markets nationwide from August 4 to 9, with a total budget of 10 billion won, so that consumers shopping at traditional markets can also enjoy discounts.
Consumers who purchase domestic agricultural and livestock products at traditional markets can submit their purchase receipts at a refund booth and receive a 30% refund in Onnuri gift certificates, up to 20,000 won (for purchases of 67,000 won or more), depending on the purchase amount.
Hong Ingi, Director General of Distribution and Consumption Policy at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, stated, "With household food expenses expected to rise during the school vacation and summer holiday season, we have launched the Summer Vacation Season Agricultural and Livestock Product Discount Support program to help lower the perceived cost of groceries for consumers." He added, "The government will continue to implement discount support programs for agricultural and livestock products during periods of concentrated consumption or price increases to help reduce the burden of grocery prices for consumers."
