On July 14, the special prosecutor team led by Cho Eunseok, which is investigating the insurrection and treason cases related to the 12·3 Martial Law, conducted search and seizure operations at the Drone Operations Command (Drone Command) and other locations. The special prosecutor's team also appears to have officially launched a full-scale investigation into the foreign exchange-related allegations against former President Yoon Sukyeol.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on this day, the special prosecutor's team carried out search and seizure operations at 24 military-related sites, including the Drone Command, the Defense Counterintelligence Command, and the Defense Intelligence Agency of the Ministry of National Defense. It has been reported that the residence of Kim Yongdae, Commander of the Drone Operations Command, was also included among the targets of the search.
The special prosecutor's team suspects that former President Yoon attempted to provoke North Korea by sending an unmanned aerial vehicle into Pyongyang, North Korea in October of last year in order to create justification for declaring martial law.
In addition, the special prosecutor's team has once again summoned former Presidential Security Chief Park Jongjun, thereby increasing pressure on former President Yoon, who is refusing to comply with the summons for questioning. Park is accused of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant for former President Yoon by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) in January of this year. He is also suspected of being involved in the deletion of records from the encrypted phone server managed by the Presidential Security Service.
The special prosecutor's team has also summoned Lee Jinha, Director of Security and Safety at the Presidential Security Service. The Security and Safety Division is responsible for overseeing security at the presidential office and surrounding areas, and is known to have led the efforts to block the execution of the arrest warrant by the CIO.
The special prosecutor's team plans to closely question former Chief Park and Director Lee about whether they obstructed the execution of the arrest warrant under the instructions of former President Yoon.
