On July 14, Goseong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced that it has submitted its second supplementary budget proposal for 2025 to the county council. The proposed budget amounts to 780.1 billion won, an increase of 39.2 billion won (5.30%) compared to the original budget.
The second supplementary budget proposal for Goseong County was formulated with a focus on revitalizing the local economy, securing future urban competitiveness through the expansion of stay-type tourism industries, and addressing local issues and improving residents' quality of life by prioritizing projects that can be executed within the year among essential pending projects. The total size of the budget is 780.1 billion won, which is 39.2 billion won higher than the first supplementary budget. Of this, 702.7 billion won is allocated to the general account and 77.4 billion won to the special account.
To stimulate local consumption, 2.55 billion won has been allocated for the expansion of the issuance of the Goseong Love Gift Certificate. In the tourism industry sector, which aims to attract tourists and enhance the local brand, 840 million won has been allocated for projects such as remodeling the Marine Healing Center and establishing related infrastructure.
For projects proposed during communication meetings with residents, 1.85 billion won has been allocated to 13 projects, including the construction and renovation of senior centers, maintenance of village roads and access roads, improvement of agricultural infrastructure, and maintenance of small streams.
For the first half of 2025, 1.03 billion won has been allocated to 26 projects proposed by the county council and local towns, including small-scale public facility maintenance, expansion and paving of farm roads, and river maintenance projects.
Additionally, major pending projects include: 400 million won for the World Heritage City Landscape Project; 1 billion won for the Jupyeong Small Stream Maintenance Project; 1.8 billion won for the Rural Space Improvement Project in the Sanseong District of Garyu-myeon; 610 million won for the 2025 Fishing Village New Vitality Promotion Project; 2.5 billion won for the Clean Fishery Restoration Project; 1.2 billion won for the replacement of artificial turf at the Goseong County Sports Town soccer field; 260 million won for the 5th Goseong Hope Dream Concert; and 410 million won to support the construction of a multi-purpose facility (library) at Hai Elementary School.
County Governor Lee Sang-geun stated, "This supplementary budget directly reflects the voices of local residents and is designed to invigorate our local economy. Moving forward, we will further strengthen communication with residents, execute the budget in ways that improve the lives of each and every resident, and carefully ensure that the effects of the budget are felt in the community."
Meanwhile, the supplementary budget proposal will be finalized after deliberation during the 303rd temporary session of the Goseong County Council.
