[Market Focus] Hyundai Glovis Rises 5% on Upward Trend, Overcoming Tariff Concerns

Record-breaking Quarterly Operating Profit in Q2
Annual Operating Profit Expected to Surpass 2 Trillion Won

Hyundai Glovis is expected to once again set a new record for quarterly operating profit, following its performance in the previous quarter. The company is showing an upward trend in earnings, overcoming concerns about U.S. tariffs.

As of 10:35 a.m. on July 14, Hyundai Glovis shares were trading at 148,300 won, up 4.94% from the previous day. Several securities firms estimate that the company will post consolidated sales of 7.5265 trillion won and operating profit of 520.4 billion won for the second quarter of this year, fueling expectations for strong results.

In particular, operating profit is projected to increase by 18.5% compared to the same period last year. It is expected that the company will easily surpass its previous quarterly operating profit record of 501.9 billion won, set in the first quarter. At this pace, it is anticipated that Hyundai Glovis will smoothly enter the era of 2 trillion won in annual operating profit.

This is attributed to the growth in sales from non-affiliated companies. Recently, Hyundai Glovis has steadily expanded its non-affiliate sales in the finished vehicle maritime transport (PCTC) sector. In the first quarter of this year, non-affiliate sales accounted for nearly half of the total. As the company focuses on logistics and distribution, it is able to pass on costs to freight rates, which allows it to be less affected by tariffs compared to manufacturers.

Jang Moonsoo, a researcher at Hyundai Motor Securities, analyzed, "Through logistics cooperation with companies such as China's BYD, Hyundai Glovis is responding with the aim of covering the entire supply chain logistics, including finished vehicle maritime transport," adding, "The expansion of the non-affiliate portion and profitability are both positive factors."
