Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants Appoints Three New Full-Time Vice Presidents

The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants announced on July 14 that it has appointed three new full-time vice presidents.


On July 11, following a resolution by the Council of Delegates, the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants appointed Dongcheol Kim, CPA (Hanyoung Accounting Corporation) as Executive Vice President, Jo Yeonju, CPA (Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants) as Vice Chair of Research, and O Kiwon, CPA (Samil Accounting Corporation) as Vice Chairman of the Accounting Inspection Department. Each will serve a three-year term.

Vice President Kim was born in 1965 and graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Yonsei University and the Graduate School of Business at Seoul National University. He passed the Certified Public Accountant examination in 1990. After working at Sehwa Accounting Corporation and Sedong Accounting Corporation, he has been with Hanyoung Accounting Corporation since 1995. At Hanyoung, he has served as Head of the Tax Division and as Partner in charge of services for major domestic conglomerates. Since 2021, he has also served as Vice President of Taxation at the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Vice Chair Jo was born in 1968 and graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Seoul National University. She holds a master's degree in business administration from the same university and a doctorate in business administration from Soongsil University. After passing the Certified Public Accountant examination in 1991, she worked at Samil and Dasan Accounting Corporations and has been with the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 2005. She also serves as a member of the Internal Accounting Management System Operations Committee of the Korea Listed Companies Association and as a non-executive director of the National Pension Service.

Vice Chairman O was born in 1964 and graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Seoul National University, where he also earned a master's degree in business administration. After passing the Certified Public Accountant examination in 1988, he worked at Samil Accounting Corporation, serving as Head of Quality Control and as Head of Audit. He has also served as a member of the Accounting Deliberation Committee of the Financial Supervisory Service and as a member of the Auditing Standards Committee of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Since last year, he has served as a part-time vice president of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants.


The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants stated, "We have appointed three new vice presidents who possess a high level of expertise and practical competence," and added, "Going forward, we plan to actively pursue initiatives to complete accounting reform and enhance national competitiveness, including the enactment of the Basic Act on Accounting."
