"AI Assistant for All Teachers"... Busan Education Office to Significantly Reduce Teachers' Administrative Work

Expansion of Dedicated Administrative Support Teams and Full Implementation of AI Assistants
Stronger Measures Against Infringements on Teachers' Rights

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) is set to implement comprehensive measures aimed at allowing teachers to focus on teaching and student guidance by overhauling administrative tasks and strengthening responses to infringements on teachers' rights, as well as supporting on-site safety.

On July 14, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced a series of field-oriented administrative reform policies as part of Superintendent Kim Seokjun's campaign pledges. These include the introduction of an AI assistant, expansion of dedicated administrative support teams, reinforcement of the response system to infringements on educational activities, and enhanced safety support for field trips.

First, an AI-based work support tool ("AI Assistant") will be provided to all teachers to reduce their administrative burden. This system is expected to significantly ease workloads by assisting with repetitive administrative tasks such as summarizing manuals, drafting documents, and organizing schedules.

In addition, the "Dedicated Administrative Support Team," which is currently operated in only a limited number of schools, will be expanded across all schools. These teams consist of professional staff who handle administrative tasks, allowing teachers to focus on teaching and student guidance. Starting next year, the system will be applied to all schools beyond just the Daehanbok Schools, and from the second half of this year, the operational model will be refined based on feedback from the field.

The "School Autonomy Project Selection System" will also be strengthened. This system allows schools to autonomously select necessary projects and manage their budgets efficiently. Beginning next year, the range of selectable projects will be expanded to further enhance school autonomy.

The legal support system for cases of infringement on teachers' rights will be significantly reinforced. The scope of support will be broadened to enable immediate legal consultation and litigation assistance in the event of infringements on educational activities, and a one-stop support team will be established to provide integrated management from initial response to follow-up support.

In particular, the education office will directly take legal action in cases of malicious complaints or false child abuse reports, and both civil and criminal support will be provided. For repeated or intentional complaints, criminal charges will also be considered.

The coverage of the Teacher Protection Mutual Aid system will be expanded, so that even if the Teachers' Rights Protection Committee is not convened, medical and counseling expenses will be supported. For property damage, up to 1 million won per item will be provided as compensation.

Support will also be expanded to reduce the burden on teachers leading field trips. In line with the implementation of the revised "School Safety Act," a budget of 950 million won has been allocated for the deployment of safety personnel, which will be provided to all schools.

Additionally, the office will promote 1:1 customized consulting with experienced teachers and expand support for joint pre-inspections. In particular, the joint pre-inspection program received a 95% satisfaction rate last year, demonstrating strong support from the field.

Superintendent Kim Seokjun stated, "Creating an environment where teachers can fully focus on teaching and student guidance is the top priority of the education office," and added, "We will continue to strengthen teacher-centered policies by reflecting the voices of those in the field."
