Gwangju City announced on July 13 that it will hold the "Gwangju Youth Work Experience Dream - Dream Meeting Day" event for three days from July 14 to 16 at the Citizen Hall on the first floor of City Hall. This event is an opportunity for workplaces (Dreamteo) that offer practical, work-centered experience, and job-seeking youth to meet directly for job consultations and interviews.

More than 300 Dreamteo, including public institutions such as Korea Power Exchange, Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation, Korea Alps Co., Ltd., and Greentech Co., Ltd., as well as local small and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups, social economy enterprises, and social welfare organizations, will participate in the "Dream Meeting Day." These companies and organizations will provide information about job roles and working environments through booth consultations and offer one-on-one customized counseling for youth.

The event venue will also feature promotional booths that make it easy to learn about various youth policies in Gwangju, allowing young people to see the city's diverse support programs at a glance. Detailed Dreamteo consultation schedules and information on available work experience positions can be found on the Gwangju Youth Work Experience Dream website.

"Gwangju Youth Work Experience Dream" is Gwangju City's flagship youth employment program, supporting unemployed youth residing in Gwangju with work experiences suited to their job aptitude, salaries, competency-building education, and related activities. Selected "Dream Youth" will gain work experience at matched workplaces for either 25 hours per week for five months or 40 hours per week for three months, receiving a salary at the level of Gwangju's living wage (pre-tax 1.69 million to 2.7 million KRW).

Since 2017, more than 7,600 young people have participated and built job competencies at various local workplaces. This year, the 18th round of Dream Youth recruitment will select a total of 400 participants.

Youth wishing to participate must pre-register on the Gwangju Youth Work Experience Dream website by 5 p.m. on July 16, attend consultations and interviews at the "Dream Meeting Day," and submit their final application on the website by 9 p.m. that day.

The selection results will be posted on July 24 on the Gwangju Youth Integrated Platform, the Gwangju Youth Work Experience Dream website, and the Gwangju City website. Selected youth will begin common training on August 1 and will gain work experience at their matched workplaces for up to five months until December.

Kim Kisuk, Director of the Education and Youth Bureau, said, "The Gwangju Youth Work Experience Dream program is a stepping stone to employment, helping youth gain practical experience, explore career paths, and move toward independence. I hope young people will actively take advantage of this opportunity to build the competitiveness required in an employment environment where career-based recruitment is expanding."
