Various Experiences in History, Culture, and Science
Outstanding youth from Busan will travel to Taiwan for a journey focused on history, culture, and science.
The Busan Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) announced on July 13 that it held a preliminary briefing session on July 10 at the Yangjeong Youth Center for participating youth and youth institution officials, ahead of the upcoming overseas exploration program for outstanding youth scheduled for July.
Fifty people attended the briefing session, including high school students from the Busan area who were selected as members of the Outstanding Youth Overseas Exploration Team, as well as youth institution officials. The session included an introduction to the exploration schedule and preparation guidelines, a Q&A session, a special lecture, and group programs.
The city introduced the exploration itinerary, which will take place in Taiwan from July 22 to 25, 2025. The youth will participate in a variety of experiences across the fields of history, culture, and science, focusing on the regions of Kaohsiung, Hsinchu, and Taipei.
The main itinerary includes the Kaohsiung Pier-2 Art Center, Hsinchu Science Park, National Tsing Hua University, Taipei 101 Observatory, National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and the National Palace Museum. At National Tsing Hua University, a campus tour will provide an opportunity to experience the local educational culture, while at Hsinchu Science Park, a robot exhibition experience is planned.
At the briefing session, Jeong Yun, head of the city's Department of Children and Youth, delivered a special lecture titled "21 Ways to Find Myself," aimed at healing the minds of young people. Through the lecture, the youth expressed empathy and interest in self-understanding and emotional growth.
Participants shared their impressions, saying, "It became an opportunity to reflect on our career paths and lives during an unstable period," and "It was impressive to learn that we should concretize our core values as the direction for our lives."
Park Seolyeon, Director of the city's Department of Women and Family, emphasized, "We hope that our youth will broaden their perspectives toward the world and grow into global talents through overseas cultural experiences," and added, "The city will continue to discover and support various programs to strengthen the capabilities of young people."
