It has been found that job seekers born in the mid-1990s to early 2000s, known as Generation Z, feel burdened by the idea of traveling while preparing for employment. Only 4 out of 10 have plans to travel abroad this summer, indicating that more than half do not intend to go on an overseas trip.

"How Can I Travel With an Empty Account?"... 64% of Generation Z Job Seekers Give Up Summer Vacation Job seekers attending the Gangnam-gu Job Fair held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, are participating in on-site interviews.

According to recruitment platform Jinhaksa Catch on July 12, 84% of 1,609 Generation Z job seekers said that traveling while preparing for employment feels "burdensome." Only 16% responded that they do not feel burdened by it.

When asked about the reasons for feeling burdened by travel, 50% cited "financial reasons." "Time constraints" followed at 27%. Next were psychological pressure at 17%, and concerns about others' perceptions at 5%.

When asked about plans for overseas travel this summer, 64% said they "have no plans." Only 36% responded that they do have plans for an overseas trip.

Among those who do not plan to travel abroad, 59% (multiple responses allowed) cited "studying or preparing for employment" as the reason. "Lack of financial resources" and "lack of psychological leeway" were each cited by 34% and 15%, respectively. Additionally, 12% answered that they have "other commitments such as part-time jobs or internships."

Even among respondents planning overseas travel, there was a clear tendency to save on expenses. When asked about the expected amount they would personally cover for travel expenses, 40% chose "more than 500,000 won and less than 1 million won." 25% said "500,000 won or less," and 22% chose "more than 1 million won and less than 2 million won." Only 5% and 3% selected "more than 2 million won and less than 3 million won" and "more than 3 million won," respectively.

Kim Junghyun, head of Jinhaksa Catch, advised, "Although Generation Z is a generation accustomed to and enjoys overseas travel, they experience significant financial and psychological burdens during their job search period. Preparing for employment without taking breaks can actually be harmful, so it is essential to take sufficient breaks from time to time."
