Yeongdeok County and Congressman Park Hyungsu Hold Policy Council to Secure 2026 National Funding

Sharing Regional Issues Such as Wildfire Recovery
Laying the Foundation for Active Cooperation

On July 10, Yeongdeok County and Congressman Park Hyungsu (representing Uiseong, Cheongsong, Yeongdeok, and Uljin) held a policy council in the main conference room of Yeongdeok County Office to secure next year's national budget and to share regional issues.

The meeting was attended by approximately 50 people, including Congressman Park Hyungsu, County Governor Kim Kwangyeol, Council Chairman Kim Seongho and other council members, Provincial Assemblyman Hwang Jaechul, and Yeongdeok County officials. They discussed regional issues and strategies for securing national funding.


During the meeting, Yeongdeok County shared the current status of recovery from the wildfire in North Gyeongsang Province that occurred at the end of March. The county also explained the need for national funding and requested cooperation for 12 major projects, including the Fishing Village New Vitality Promotion Project, the Geumjin 1-ri Natural Disaster Risk Improvement Project, renovation of aging facilities at Yeongdeok Water Purification Plant, conversion of small-scale sewage treatment facilities to a separated system, and the National Folk Cultural Heritage Gwaesi Village Maintenance Project.


In particular, Congressman Park Hyungsu and Yeongdeok County agreed through this policy council to work together for the prompt and complete recovery from the large-scale wildfire damage, the revitalization of the regional economy, and securing future growth engines. They committed to active and strategic cooperation to secure national funding.


Congressman Park Hyungsu stated, "As a secretary of the National Assembly Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, I will do my utmost to provide practical assistance in securing national funding for the recovery from wildfire damage and to realize Yeongdeok County's future vision. I will closely communicate with Yeongdeok County throughout the budget discussions with the central government, starting from the preparatory stage."


County Governor Kim Kwangyeol said, "We actively conveyed the region's most urgent needs to the Congressman following the wildfire damage. We will use this policy council as a crucial opportunity to rebuild Yeongdeok and shape its future, and we will continue to cooperate to achieve tangible results."
