Seo-gu Gwangju Launches "Heat-Related Illness Prevention Campaign" at Multi-Use Facilities On the 11th, Seo-gu District of Gwangju Metropolitan City conducted a "Heatwave Preparedness and Heat-Related Illness Prevention and Response Campaign" around heavily frequented local facilities such as Nongsung Station and Sangmu Station in observance of Safety Inspection Day. According to Seo-gu District, this campaign was organized to proactively respond to the prolonged summer heatwaves and to protect residents' health by preventing heat-related illnesses.

Seo-gu District, together with around 100 participants including safety officers and volunteers from the Safety Monitoring Group, began at Nongsung Station and made rounds at subway stations within the district, such as Yangdong Market Station, Dolgogae Station, and Sangmu Station. They distributed promotional items such as ice water, cool patches, and leaflets outlining heatwave response guidelines, not only to outdoor workers but also to children, people with chronic illnesses, and the elderly, who are considered vulnerable to heatwaves.

Meanwhile, during the summer heatwave response period (from May 15 to September 30), Seo-gu District is implementing comprehensive measures, including: expanding weekend operation of water-spraying vehicles; inspecting the operation status of cooling shelters; monitoring areas vulnerable to heatwaves; promoting prevention guidelines through SNS and the district website; and conducting public-private partnership campaigns.

Deputy District Head Kim Seongbae stated, "As heatwaves have become a part of daily life due to climate change, it is most important to prepare and take action in advance," and added, "I hope everyone practices heatwave prevention guidelines in their daily lives to ensure a healthy and safe summer."
