"Jingwansa Taegukgi" Unveiled for 80th Anniversary of Liberation

Special Exhibition "Anti-Japanese Heritage Embracing Light"
to Open at Deoksoogung Palace Next Month

The Cultural Heritage Administration will hold a special exhibition titled "Anti-Japanese Heritage Embracing Light" at Deoksoogung Palace's Dondeokjeon Hall for three months, starting from August 12, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation.

More than 110 items will be on display, including the "Seoul Jingwansa Taegukgi," which was created by painting over the Japanese flag with ink, and materials related to independence activist Seo Younghae, which were designated as National Registered Cultural Heritage this year.


The Cultural Heritage Administration is also recruiting 150 citizens to participate in the opening ceremony, which will be held in front of Seokjojeon Hall at Deoksoogung Palace on August 11, the day before the exhibition opens. Those wishing to attend can apply on the Cultural Heritage Administration’s website from 1:00 p.m. on July 14 to 6:00 p.m. on July 17. Participation is free of charge.
