Seoul Metropolitan Council Delegation Visits Ulaanbaatar to Discuss
Strengthening Educational and Cultural Exchanges
A delegation from the Seoul Metropolitan Council, led by Chairperson Choi Hojung, officially visited Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Mongolia and the 30th anniversary of the Seoul-Ulaanbaatar sister city partnership. Invited by the Ulaanbaatar City Council, the delegation visited from the 10th to the 13th to review the achievements of inter-council exchanges and cooperation, and to discuss future collaboration plans.

On the 10th, the delegation held an official meeting with the new chairperson of the Ulaanbaatar City Council and evaluated the results of past exchanges and cooperation. They also introduced the 'Seoul Study Abroad Fair' scheduled to be held in Ulaanbaatar this September, emphasizing that talents who experience Seoul's educational system and programs will contribute to the development of Mongolian society upon their return.
Bayar Amarbayasgalan, Chairperson of the Ulaanbaatar City Council, responded by expressing confidence in mutual development through continued exchange and cooperation. Later that afternoon, the delegation also met with Khishgee Nambaatar, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar.
Chairperson Choi is scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of Naadam, Mongolia's representative traditional festival, the opening of the Korean Pavilion at the 'K-M Cultural Exchange Music Festa in Naadam,' and a state banquet hosted by the President of Mongolia.
The Seoul Metropolitan Council stated that this visit aims to strengthen trust and solidarity between Seoul and Ulaanbaatar, and to promote mutual development through cultural and educational exchanges. The delegation included Chairperson Choi Hojung, Lee Seongbae (People Power Party floor leader), Seong Heumje (Democratic Party floor leader), Yoo Jeongin, Yoo Manhee, Lee Kyungsook, and Jeong Junho.
