Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province will open the Wave Park surf zone for free to revitalize the Turtle Island commercial district.
On July 11, Siheung City announced that starting from the 17th, the Siheung Wave Park surf zone on Turtle Island will be fully open to visitors.

Wave Park is the world’s largest artificial surfing facility and serves as a key attraction on Turtle Island, which is being developed as a marine leisure tourism destination. The World Surf League (WSL) competition is also scheduled to be held there for three days from the 18th to the 20th.
Since last year, the city has implemented nighttime openings at Wave Park to boost activity on Turtle Island. The surf zone, which was previously open for free from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., will now be open from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
As a result, visitors to Turtle Island will be able to access the Wave Park surf zone without purchasing an admission ticket. The city also plans to allow visitors free access to a new rooftop facility being installed on the second floor of the Surf House within Wave Park. In effect, with the exception of surfing itself, most of the facilities in the surf zone will be available to visitors without a separate entrance fee.
Siheung Mayor Lim Byeongtaek said, "We decided to fully open the Wave Park surf zone to provide more fun and memorable experiences for visitors to Turtle Island."
