Kim Juhyung Makes Refreshing Start at 4 Under Par... "Now I've Got the Feel"

Tied for 9th in Round 1 of the Genesis Scotland Open
Breaks Slump After Missing Cuts in Two Consecutive Tournaments
Knapp Leads, Scheffler in 14th, McIlroy in 33rd

Kim Juhyung made a refreshing start after a long time.

On July 10 (local time), at the Renaissance Club (par 70, 7,282 yards) in North Berwick, Scotland, United Kingdom, Kim shot a 4-under-par 66 in the first round of the Genesis Scotland Open on the PGA Tour (total prize money of $9 million), finishing tied for 9th place.

The Genesis Scotland Open is also part of the "Rolex Series," which refers to the five major tournaments of the DP World Tour. This event, with Genesis, Hyundai Motor's premium brand, as the title sponsor, attracted many of the world's top players.

Kim Juhyung recorded five birdies (with one bogey). After birdies on the 3rd and 7th holes, he paused with a bogey on the 8th hole (par 5), then collected three more birdies on the 10th, 13th, and 16th holes. His greens in regulation rate stood out at 72.22%, and his average putts per green in regulation was 1.77. He is two shots behind the leading group, and has laid the foundation for his fourth career win since the 2023 Shriners Children's Open. Above all, it is encouraging that he has broken free from missing the cut in two consecutive tournaments recently.

Jake Knapp (United States), Sepp Straka (Austria), Victor Perez (France), and Nico Echavarria (Colombia) are tied for the lead at 6-under-par 64. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (United States) and An Byeonghun are tied for 14th at 3-under-par 67, while career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) is tied for 33rd at 2-under-par 68. Kim Siwoo, Im Sungjae, and Aldrich Potgieter (South Africa) finished the first round tied for 68th at even-par 70.
