Preliminary Site Inspection in Gyeongju for 20 APEC Members... Preparation Status Reviewed

On July 10, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Preparation Planning Group held the first preliminary site inspection for the 20 APEC member economies from July 9 for two days. The inspection, presided over by Planning Director Kim Jijun, was attended by about 120 people, including representatives from the member economies and officials from related organizations.

On the first day of the inspection, a briefing session on the summit was held in Seoul, where the schedule and key protocol matters were explained. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Paul Fernando Duclos Parodi, the Peruvian Ambassador to Korea, who attended the briefing, stated, "I hope for a successful summit following Peru, which hosted the APEC summit last year."


On the second day, participants visited Busan and Gyeongju in person, conducting on-site inspections at Gimhae Airport, the summit venue (Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center), and the dinner venue (National Gyeongju Museum). Attendees were briefed on the preparation status and checked the various event venues and construction sites.


Traditionally, the APEC chair economy has conducted two preliminary site inspections before hosting the summit. Going forward, the Preparation Planning Group plans to hold a second preliminary site inspection for all APEC member economies.
