On July 10, Gyeonggi Province held the '2025 Gyeonggi Province Mental Health Policy Forum' at Dasan Hall in the Gyeonggi Provincial Government building, exploring the potential of utilizing artificial intelligence and telemedicine in mental health care.
The forum was organized to explore ways to use digital services for the mental health and suicide prevention of Gyeonggi residents in response to the transition to a digital society, as well as to set mid- and long-term policy directions.
Before the main presentations, Professor Seo Eun-guk of the Department of Psychology at Yonsei University delivered a special lecture titled "Happiness is the Sum of Good Experiences," highlighting the intrinsic value of mental health and the concept of happiness in a digital environment.

The main presentations featured Professor Yoo Hyunjae of the Department of Communication at Sogang University (Digital Mental Health Intervention Strategies); Professor Cho Cheolhyeon of the Department of Psychiatry at Korea University (Is Mental Health Hotline Counseling (1577-0199) Possible with AI?); and Song Kyungjun, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at Boramae Hospital (Utilizing Telemedicine in Mental Health Emergencies). They shared case studies and future prospects for the use of digital medical technologies.
During the comprehensive discussion, the presenters and participants engaged in in-depth conversations about policy directions and service strategies for mental health in a digital society.
Park Inhee, head of the Mental Health Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "It was a meaningful opportunity to proactively examine the digital-based mental health care environment and to establish effective policy directions," adding, "We will continue to develop policies to promote residents' mental health and prevent suicide."
