On July 10, Gyeonggi Province held a briefing session at the National Assembly for aides to National Assembly members representing districts in Gyeonggi Province, where the province requested cooperation for a total of 3.65 trillion won in national funding for next year’s key projects.

Other proposals included promoting the reuse of multi-use containers (5.8 billion won), creating urban forests for climate response (8 billion won), and the installation of incineration facilities (86.8 billion won) to strengthen climate crisis response capabilities.

Gyeonggi Province also requested legislative and budgetary support for its three major future growth projects currently being prioritized: the establishment of a K-Semiconductor Mega Cluster, the creation of a Climate Tech Cluster and transition to RE100, and attracting private investment for an AI computing center as well as designating a special zone for leading AI projects.

Deputy Governor Seongjung Kim stated, "In the current situation where the province’s fiscal conditions are deteriorating due to high inflation and reduced consumption, close cooperation with the National Assembly to secure national funding is more important than ever," and added, "We ask for the National Assembly’s active interest and support so that the province’s efforts can yield tangible results."

Gyeonggi Province plans to continue strategic responses to secure national funding for next year through ongoing communication and cooperation with the National Assembly and central government ministries.
