[Market Focus] Aton Surges as Participation in 'Project Hangang' Highlighted Amid Bank of Korea's Stablecoin Initiative

Aton's stock price is showing strength. The company's previous involvement in a central bank digital currency (CBDC) project with the Bank of Korea has come into the spotlight after Bank of Korea Governor Rhee Changyong expressed a positive stance on the Korean won stablecoin.

As of 2:09 p.m. on July 10, Aton's stock price was up 6.63% from the previous day, trading at 10,620 won. The rise appears to be driven by Governor Rhee's comments at a monetary policy briefing, where he referred to "Project Hangang," a real-world CBDC usage experiment, as "an experiment that was designed with the Korean won stablecoin in mind" from the very beginning.

Governor Rhee stated, "We started this because we believed the Bank of Korea should take the lead and work with trustworthy banks," and added, "No other institution has prepared as actively for the introduction of a Korean won stablecoin as the Bank of Korea has."

This confirms that the previously launched "Project Hangang" was developed with stablecoins in mind. Earlier this year, fintech security company Aton successfully built a response system for NH Nonghyup Bank as part of "Project Hangang." Through its blockchain technology subsidiary, Trackchain, Aton has also supported the entry of the digital asset industry into the regulatory framework by working on travel rule (funds transfer rule) projects with over 30 virtual asset service providers.
