Held at Hangul School and Namwon City Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled
Namwon City in North Jeolla Province is operating the "Hangul Sunshine Bus," a mobile digital literacy education program, as part of its adult literacy education support project, which was selected as a national and provincial government-funded initiative this year.
According to the city on July 10, the "Hangul Sunshine Bus" program is a new adult literacy initiative in which instructors visit information-vulnerable groups such as senior centers and welfare facilities to provide digital literacy education directly.
This education program will be held a total of 14 times from July to August at the Deokgwa-myeon Hangul School and the Namwon City Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled. The curriculum is designed to focus on practical, everyday content, including not only basic device usage but also methods to prevent financial scams, online information search skills, and how to utilize photos and videos. The city expects a high level of satisfaction among participants.
The program centers on teaching how to use digital devices needed in daily life, such as smartphones, kiosks, and mobile apps, with instructors visiting senior centers and welfare facilities to conduct classes in person. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Namwon City Lifelong Learning Center.
Mayor Choi Kyungshik stated, "There are many seniors who experience inconvenience in their daily lives due to the digital divide," and added, "Through the 'Hangul Sunshine Bus,' we will visit seniors directly and strive to ensure that everyone can easily learn and use digital technology through education."
