Payment Due by July 31
Approximately 315,000 Cases Subject to Tax
Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province has imposed and notified a total of approximately 315,000 regular property tax cases for July, amounting to 65.3 billion won.
According to the city on July 10, the number of cases assessed decreased by 1,587 compared to last year, but the total tax amount increased by 500 million won.
In detail, for property tax on buildings, the standard market value decreased due to the adjustment of the residual value rate for certain structures, such as reinforced concrete and steel-frame buildings, from the previous 15% to 10%. As a result, the tax amount decreased by 59 million won.
For property tax on housing, the number of taxable cases decreased from the previous year due to the demolition of houses in redevelopment areas. However, the tax amount increased by 561 million won due to rising prices of both multi-unit and individual houses.
The regular property tax for July is imposed on owners of buildings and houses as of June 1. If the main property tax on housing exceeds 200,000 won, it is divided and imposed in July and September. If it is 200,000 won or less, it is imposed in full in July.
Payment methods include CD/ATM (with additional fees for using other banks' machines), Wetax or Smart Wetax, Internet Giro, ARS (142211), virtual account or local tax revenue account, and mobile simple payment apps such as Kakao Pay and Naver Pay, allowing for convenient payment.
In addition, payment can be made by credit card at the nearest community service center, the Tax Department at Wansan or Deokjin District Office, or the Tax Administration Division at City Hall. The payment deadline is until July 31, and a 3% late fee will be added for overdue payments, so taxpayers are advised to pay on time to avoid penalties.
Choi Hyunchang, Director of Planning and Coordination at the city, stated, "Local taxes are a valuable resource for improving welfare, education, and the urban environment to enhance citizens' quality of life. We ask all taxpayers to make their payments within the deadline," adding, "The city will also strive to operate a fair and trustworthy tax administration."
