Joint Academic Conference on "Current Status of the Digital Asset Market and Major Legal Issues"
Co-hosted by the Digital Finance Law Forum Supported by Kwangjang
Blockchain Law Society and Digital Asset eXchange Alliance (DAXA) Collaborate
On July 18, a joint academic conference will be held at Law Firm Kwangjang under the theme "Current Status of the Digital Asset Market and Major Legal Issues."
This seminar, which will take place at 2 p.m. in the Academia Hall on the first floor of the new building at Kwangjang, Hanjin Building, Jung-gu, Seoul, is co-hosted by the Digital Finance Law Forum (a non-profit organization supported by Kwangjang), the Blockchain Law Society, and the Digital Asset eXchange Alliance (DAXA).
Opening remarks will be delivered by Yoo Juseon, Vice President of the Digital Finance Law Forum and professor at Kangnam University; Hong Eunpyo, President of the Blockchain Law Society and attorney at Kwangjang; and Oh Sejin, Chairperson of DAXA and CEO of Korbit. Jin Woongseop, advisor at Kwangjang and former Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, will deliver a congratulatory address.
The conference will feature three sessions: ▲Stablecoins and Monetary Policy ▲Legal Issues Regarding Foreign Participation in the Domestic Virtual Asset Market and Overseas Expansion of Virtual Asset Service Providers ▲Corporate Participation in the Digital Asset Market and Spot ETF Issues. The sessions will be moderated by Kim Sihong, executive advisor at Kwangjang and Secretary-General of the Digital Finance Law Forum.
The first session, titled "Stablecoins and Monetary Policy: Internationalization of the Korean Won, Opportunity or Risk?", will be chaired by Kang Hyungu, attorney at Kwangjang, with a keynote presentation by Kim Jongseung, CEO of Xcrypton. Panelists will include Lee Jeongdu, head of the Financial Research Institute, and Jo Suhan, attorney at Uprise.
In the second session, Kim Jaejin, Executive Vice Chairperson of DAXA, will serve as chair. Chun Changmin, professor at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, will deliver the keynote presentation. Panelists will be Han Sehee, attorney at Barun Law LLC; Lee Haeboong, head of center at Dunamu; and Yoo Jeonggi, attorney at Bithumb Policy Support Office.
The final session will be chaired by Park Jongbaek, attorney at Pacific Law LLC, with a keynote presentation by Ryu Kyeongeun, professor at Korea University School of Law. The discussion will be led by Kim Seongjin, director of the Virtual Asset Division at the Financial Services Commission, and Hwang Sewoon, senior research fellow at the Korea Capital Market Institute.
Meanwhile, the Digital Finance Law Forum, established in October 2021, is the nation’s leading professional research forum dedicated to studying legal systems and policy directions related to the digital finance industry. It is composed of experts from various fields, including the financial industry, big tech and fintech sectors, academia, the legal profession, and relevant public and research institutions.
