Strengthening Safety Management for County Residents
On-site Inspections of Disaster-Prone Areas
Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on July 10 that it had conducted on-site inspections of areas vulnerable to natural disasters in order to prevent natural disasters caused by heavy rainfall and heatwaves during the summer and to strengthen the safety management of county residents.
This inspection focused on three major sites: the restoration project of the Unggokcheon ecological stream implemented by Geochang County; the temporary bridge construction site for highway works that received river use permits from Geochang County; and three major river disaster prevention projects being carried out by South Gyeongsang Province.

In particular, the county emphasized the importance of establishing a disaster response system by directly checking the safety management status of disaster-prone areas in preparation for heavy rainfall and heatwaves during the summer, inspecting the emergency response system, and listening to on-site feedback from those involved.
Mayor Gu Inmo urged, "In order to protect the lives and property of county residents from heavy rainfall and heatwaves during the summer, please eliminate risk factors through preemptive on-site inspections and ensure that residents' inconveniences are addressed through thorough construction management."
Meanwhile, Geochang County plans to use this on-site inspection as an opportunity to continuously expand inspections of disaster-prone areas and construction sites.
