Entries for Rice Processed Foods and Woorisul Competition
Accepted Until August 1
The K-Rice Festa is an event hosted and organized by Nonghyup Economic Holdings and sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. It was first held by Nonghyup in 2024 to promote the excellence and appeal of Korean rice and to create a nationwide boom in rice consumption. This year, the event will take place from November 28 to November 30 at Hall 3 of the KINTEX Exhibition Center 1 in Ilsan.
This event will discover and award outstanding companies through a rice processed food and Woorisul product competition, and will also offer a variety of hands-on activities for visitors utilizing rice.
To ensure a systematic evaluation, the competition categories have been expanded from four to seven. For rice processed foods, there are three categories: general manufacturers' ready-to-eat and non-ready-to-eat foods, and Nonghyup's retail foods. For Woorisul, there are four categories: low-alcohol fermented liquor (under 9% ABV), high-alcohol fermented liquor (9% ABV and above), Yak·Cheongju, and distilled liquor.
In addition, to foster a wider range of manufacturers and products, the number of awards has been increased by 12 compared to the previous year, for a total of 28 awards. In each category, one Grand Prize, one Excellence Award, and two Merit Awards will be presented. Notably, the Grand Prize winner will receive a cash prize of 20 million KRW, and a total of 260 million KRW in prizes will be awarded.
Ryu Gilnyeon, head of the organization, stated, "K-Rice Festa is a meaningful opportunity to showcase the excellence of Korean rice and traditional liquor nationwide. We hope that competitive processing companies in Gyeongnam will further grow through this competition and expand into domestic and international markets. We ask for the active participation of related companies in the province."
