Company-wide Sharing of Results at 'AI Demo Day' in October
BS Hanyang is partnering with four startups that possess artificial intelligence (AI)-based technologies to jointly conduct technology demonstrations. The company aims to apply AI technologies to construction sites to improve work efficiency and reduce safety accidents.
On July 10, BS Hanyang announced that it had signed technology cooperation agreements with startups in four sectors?Infrastructure, Construction Technology, Outsourcing & Procurement, and Energy?through the '2025 Seoul Startup Hub Open Innovation' program, which is hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Business Agency.
'Open Innovation' is one of Seoul's startup support policies, in which private companies introduce innovative technologies from startups and collaborate from prototype development to on-site demonstrations and joint research and development (R&D). BS Hanyang selected the four partner companies after about two months of evaluation that began in April.
The core of this collaboration is to practically apply AI technologies in various fields on-site.
First, in the Infrastructure sector, AI will be introduced at tunnel construction sites. The system automatically analyzes exposed rock surfaces during excavation, assesses ground conditions in real time, and detects risk factors at an early stage. This technology will be piloted at the 'Gwangmyeong?Seoul Road Project' site starting this month.
In the Construction Technology sector, AI will automatically recognize design drawings and calculate the required quantity of materials. Previously, this was done manually, which increased the potential for errors; however, utilizing AI is expected to improve both accuracy and speed.
The Outsourcing & Procurement sector will use AI to forecast material demand and adjust purchasing timing by considering fluctuations in international raw material prices. The core of this system is the company's proprietary demand forecasting technology, 'DeepFlow.'
The Energy sector will apply AI to renewable energy projects. The technology analyzes past bidding data and automatically recommends power generation forecasts and bidding strategies. The purpose is to adapt to the evolving electricity market system and enhance profitability.
BS Hanyang plans to complete the technology demonstrations for each sector by September and will comprehensively review the feasibility of on-site application and commercialization thereafter. In October, the company will hold an internal event called 'BS AI Demo Day' to share the results of these collaborations across the organization.
A BS Hanyang representative stated, "We are leveraging open innovation as a catalyst for corporate innovation in line with the digital transformation trend centered on AI," and added, "We will continue to actively introduce AI technologies on-site to strengthen our future competitiveness."
