Three Consecutive Days of Gains
Individual Investors Remain Sole Net Buyers
Both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ indices started the day with modest gains, continuing their upward momentum.
On July 10, the KOSPI opened at 3,144.14, up 0.33% from the previous day. This is the highest opening level since September 24, 2021.
By investor type, individual investors were net buyers of 299.2 billion won. Foreign investors and institutions were net sellers of 161.9 billion won and 102.3 billion won, respectively.
By sector, the largest gains were seen in pharmaceuticals (1.40%), electrical and electronics (0.94%), metals (0.78%), distribution (0.75%), and manufacturing (0.65%). In contrast, securities (-1.25%), textiles and apparel (-1.12%), transportation and storage (-0.91%), and food, beverages, and tobacco (-0.88%) declined.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Biologics recorded the largest increase with a gain of 2.8%. This was followed by LG Energy Solution (2.5%), SK Hynix (1.2%), Kia (0.7%), Samsung Electronics (0.5%), and Hyundai Motor (0.2%). Doosan Enerbility (-1.2%), NAVER (-0.9%), KB Financial Group (-0.7%), and Hanwha Aerospace (-0.5%) declined.
The KOSDAQ index also started higher, opening at 794.64, up 0.54% from the previous day.
In the KOSDAQ market, individual investors were net buyers of 90.1 billion won, while foreign investors and institutions were net sellers of 63.4 billion won and 17.5 billion won, respectively.
The ratio of rising to falling sectors was similar. General services (1.39%), machinery and equipment (1.12%), distribution (0.81%), and finance (0.77%) advanced, while entertainment and culture (-1.21%), other manufacturing (-0.71%), and transportation and storage (-0.48%) declined.
Most of the top 10 KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization rose. Rigachem Bio (3.9%) and Rainbow Robotics (2.2%) posted notable gains. This was followed by Alteogen (1.4%), Lino Industrial (1.0%), HLB (0.9%), Ecopro BM (0.7%), Ecopro (0.5%), Peptron (0.4%), and Hugel (0.1%). Only Pharmaresearch declined, falling 1.6%.
