Laying the Foundation for a Pedestrian-Friendly City
Paju City announced on July 10 that it had completed the "Sidewalk Installation Project" in 11 sections, including the installation of sidewalks in Deungwon 2-ri, during the first half of this year. The total length of the project was 2.4 kilometers, with a project budget of 2.2 billion won.

This project was carried out with the goals of establishing a pedestrian-centered traffic culture and preventing safety accidents. It focused on areas vulnerable to pedestrian accidents, such as children's protection zones, senior citizen protection zones, school routes, and back roads.
In particular, to prevent pedestrian accidents by expanding safety facilities for vulnerable pedestrians, the city expanded the installation of anti-slip pavement to prevent accidents during rainy weather and winter freezing. It also newly installed tactile paving blocks to assist the safe movement of visually impaired individuals, thereby creating a safer environment.
Paju City plans to complete the construction of safe pedestrian paths in three additional sections, including in front of Geumchon Sports Park, during the second half of the year. The city will accelerate facility improvements to promote a pedestrian-centered traffic culture and prevent accidents.
Kim Kyoungil, Mayor of Paju City, stated, "Making the city a place where anyone can walk comfortably is the path to a happy city," adding, "We will continue to expand the foundation for a pedestrian-friendly city to protect the safety and health of citizens in their daily lives."
