KleanNara Achieves Digital Transformation, Enhances Safety and Productivity

Introduction of the Industry's First AI-Based Smart Integrated Disaster Prevention Center
Plans for Automatic Moisture Measuring Device and Unmanned Forklifts Also Announced

KleanNara announced on July 10 that it shared the facilities and operational achievements established through digital transformation (DX) at its Cheongju Plant, located in Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, with member companies of the Korea Paper Manufacturers Association.

KleanNara Achieves Digital Transformation, Enhances Safety and Productivity

This event was organized to introduce the DX-based manufacturing technologies and major achievements that KleanNara has been pursuing, and to explore the direction of sustainable growth and digital transformation in the paper industry. Attendees included Han Kyungrok, CEO of Hansol Paper, Lee Bokjin, CEO of Tailim Paper, Jung Dongha, CEO of Jeonju Paper, Kwon Yuksang, CEO of Paper Korea, Kwon Jihae, CEO of Shindaeyang Paper, as well as around 80 executives and employees from Moorim Group, Korea Paper, Asia Paper, Daehan Paper, and Yuhan-Kimberly.

Since 2022, KleanNara has been actively implementing digital technologies to improve process efficiency. During the event, the company presented the operational status and DX application effects of key facilities, including an AI-based Smart Integrated Disaster Prevention Center, an automatic paper resource moisture measuring device, and unmanned forklifts (AGVs).

The AI-based Smart Integrated Disaster Prevention Center, which KleanNara introduced for the first time in the paper industry, utilizes over 660 CCTV cameras, drones, and smart algorithms to detect risk factors in real time within the plant and enables immediate response through a 3D integrated control platform. In addition, the company has established a system that links with seven water and air TMS (Tele Monitoring System) points operated by the Korea Environment Corporation under the Ministry of Environment, allowing real-time monitoring and response to the plant's air and water quality data. TMS remotely monitors the discharge status of sewage/wastewater treatment facilities and air emission facilities, helping to prevent water and air pollution incidents and providing data as a basis for objective environmental policy.

The company also introduced plans for the automatic paper resource moisture measuring device, which has been in operation since 2022, and the unmanned forklift (AGV) system, scheduled for introduction in August. The moisture measuring device, currently in stable operation at KleanNara and Hansol Paper among domestic companies, is a leading facility that enhances the objectivity and transparency of inspections, while also contributing to the sustainability of resource utilization. The AGV system is expected to improve productivity by fully automating the transfer and stacking of finished products, thereby enhancing operational safety and enabling 24-hour process operation.

A KleanNara representative stated, "Since 2022, the Cheongju Plant has improved productivity, quality, and safety simultaneously through the introduction of digital facilities, making it a model case that goes beyond simple automation to realize worker safety and quality innovation. We will continue to share advanced systems and technological leadership with the industry, taking the lead in accelerating digital transformation and strengthening competitiveness in the paper industry."
