Lotte World Aquarium Hanoi opened in August 2023 at Lotte Mall West Lake in Tay Ho District, Hanoi, Vietnam. Covering an area of 9,000 square meters (approximately 2,750 pyeong) and equipped with tanks holding over 3,400 tons of water, the aquarium has established itself as a tourist attraction for both local and international visitors, welcoming its one-millionth visitor the previous day.
The aquarium features a main tank that houses up to 10,000 marine creatures, as well as a 'circular tank zone' that allows visitors to observe sea life with a 360-degree surround view, among other diverse attractions.
In the first half of this year, the number of visitors increased by approximately 110% compared to the same period last year, while revenue grew by about 90%, continuing its growth trajectory. In addition to serving as a viewing facility, the aquarium also fulfills the role of a specialized institution dedicated to marine ecosystem conservation and fostering a culture of respect for life. Previously, in April 2023, Lotte World Aquarium signed a memorandum of understanding with the Institute of Tropical Biology under Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology to collaborate on marine biodiversity conservation and research.
Following Lotte World Aquarium Hanoi, Lotte World opened a 'Kids Playground' in April this year at Times City in Hanoi, Vietnam, utilizing online educational content intellectual property (IP). As Lotte World's second business site in Hanoi, it is a comprehensive play space that combines art education with physical activities.
Lee Haeyul, head of Lotte World Vietnam, stated, "We will continue to strive to provide Vietnamese visitors with newer and more differentiated experiences through ongoing innovation."
